3 PAT312, Section 41, December 2006 S41-3 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation CONVECTION TEMPLATE l Convection templates specify a variable convective LBC l Convection Templates are defined in the template.dat.apnd file l Provide in MSC.Patran LBC input form: l Template ID (TID) number l Optional (spatially varying) data l An example of a convection template is given below
4 PAT312, Section 41, December 2006 S41-4 Copyright 2007 MSC.Software Corporation CONVECTION TEMPLATE l This template provides 2 GPs and 5 Material Property IDs (MPIDs) l Configuration 13 requires 5 GP values l GP1 is the surface area supplied by the MSC.Patran l GP2 and GP3 are characteristic lengths l Supplied in the Convection Coefficient LBC data box l The example assumes that GP2 and GP3 are supplied from the LBCs form l Can be supplied directly in the template (change # of GPs to 4) l GP4 is plate inclination angle l GP5 is the local gravitational constant l Configuration 13 requires 5 MPIDs l Density, Viscosity, coefficient of thermal expansion, specific heat and thermal conductivity of fluid l The MPIDs are 1041, 1042, 1043, 1000, and 1110
