3 S8-3 PAT325, Section 8, February 2004 Copyright 2004 MSC.Software Corporation TRANSFORMING RESULTS BACK TO PLY SORT When the solver(MSC.Nastran) analysis results are linked to or read into MSC.Patran they are in laminate material format. Any stress results displayed in MSC.Patran correspond to a single layer(e.g. Layer 1), and not a ply. It is not possible to display stresses that correspond to the plies. So, it is needed to obtain the stresses for the plies.
4 S8-4 PAT325, Section 8, February 2004 Copyright 2004 MSC.Software Corporation TRANSFORMING RESULTS n After linking the result file to MSC.Patran, the results can be translated to a ply-wise representation. n This is not done automatically, but is done at user request in MSC.Laminate Modeler. n The load case, subcase and layered result must be chosen.

The property sets are created on an element layer basics, with no physical counterpart. n MSC.Laminate Modeler modeling u One material and no properties are created in Patran.Three plies are created with different directions and application regions in MSC.Laminate Modeler.
