3 WS21-3 NAS122, Workshop 21, August 2005 Copyright 2005 MSC.Software Corporation Problem Description u This workshop is for performing a response spectrum analysis of an appendage plate structure attached to the top of the previously studied tower structure model. The response spectra created during the previous workshop is to be used to establish the peak values of the modal coordinates for the modes of the appendage plate model. u A.bdf file is to be edited to include the needed MSC.Nastran entries to perform the analysis. The appendage plate model is described in an existing.bdf file. u The response spectra are in the.pch file created in the previous workshop.

Edit MSC.Nastran file rs_analysis_tower_plate.bdf to perform the response spectrum analysis. 3. Submit the job to MSC.Nastran. 4. Display the results from the analysis.

Read the Appendage Plate Model.bdf File Read the appendage plate model.bdf file into an MSC.Patran database to see what the model looks like. The name of the file is appendage_plate.bdf The plate model is to be attached to the top of the tower model using the nodes at the left edge of the plate

Edit MSC.Nastran File rs_analysis_tower_plate.bdf To perform an MSC.Nastran response spectrum analysis of the appendage plate model, edit the file named rs_analysis_tower_plate.bdf so it looks like that shown below. It is necessary to follow the steps shown in the course notes on response spectrum analysis.
