12 Copyright DASSAULT SYSTEMES How Defining an Axis System This task explains how to define a new three-axis system locally. An axis system is composed of an origin point and three orthogonal axes. There are always two ways of defining it: either by selecting geometry or by entering coordinates. Selecting Geometry Standard: defined by a point of origin and three orthogonal directions (by default the current directions of the compass) Entering Coordinates In V5R8, you can choose from different types of axis system : Axis rotation: defined as a standard axis system and a angle computed from a selected reference V5R8 Euler angles: defined by three angle values computed from the initial X, Y, and Z directions

If exact values cannot be measured, approximate values are given (identified by a ~ sign). Exact: measures access exact data and true values are given. A warning dialog box informs you if the exact measure could not be made. Approximate: measures are made on tessellated objects and approximate values are given (identified by a ~ sign).
