3 Группа русских туристов первый раз в Лондоне. Они хотят посмотреть самые знаменитые места Лондона. В этом им помогут лидер группы, корреспондент и гиды. Условные обозначения: RT – Russian tourists (русские туристы). GL – A group leader (лидер группы). C – A correspondent (корреспондент). G – Guides (гиды). W – Waiter (официант).

4 Guid: Dear guests! You are welcome on board. London stands on the river Thames. London the capital of Great Britain, is a very old city. It is 2 thousand years old. Many years ago London was a small town on the Thames. Now London is abig port and a beautiful city with large squares and parks. About 7 million people live here. London is one of the biggest cities in world.

5 Tower Bridge is the only Thames bridge which can be raised. The road over the bridge is built on 2 central sections, they open 2 or 3 times a week to let ships through. Up the bridge there are walkways with good views of London. London Bridge. It is 2000 years old. People built a bridge of stone and called it London Bridge. There were shops and houses on it and people paid money when they cross the bridge.

6 It is a very old building. It is 900 years old. In the early days the English kings lived here. Then it was a prison. Black ravens live out side the Tower now. The Tower of London is a museum now. At 10 oclock every evening the guards lock the big doors of the Tower for the night.

7 Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament It is the seat of the British Goverment. Big Ben is a clock. It has four faces and a very big loud bell. The Bell weights 13 tons and 318 feet high. The clock faces is 23 feet wide. The minute hand is 14 feet long. The hour hand is 9 feet long.

8 St Pauls Cathedral is the greatest work of Englands greatest architect sir Cristopher Wren. The Cathedral was begun in 1675 and was finished only in 1710.

11 Trafalgar Square It is in the centre of West End of London. Trafalgar Square commemorates Nelsons victory at the battle of Trafalgar in which he was fatally wounded. The statue shows Nelson with one arm and one eye. He lost them in the battle.

12 Buckingham Palace It is the London home of the Queen. When the flag is flying on the top – she is at home. There are 600 rooms. The Queens family stay at the Palace on week days. The ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is a great tourist attraction. It takes place daily at 11:30 a.m. and lasts half an hour.
