2 The planet Earth is only a tiny part of universe, but its only place where human beings can live. Today, our planet is in danger. Acid rains, global warming, air and water pollutions, overpopulation are the problems that threaten human life on Earth. Who is to blame for the disaster? The answer is simple: all of us. Our forests are disappearing because they are cut down or burnt. If this trend continues, one day we wont have enough oxygen to breath. The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear waste, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Every ten minutes one kind of animal, plant or incest dies out for ever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that alive today may soon become extinct. Air pollution is another serious problem. In Cairo just breathing the air is dangerous – equivalent to smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. The same holds true for many our planet. The same holds true for many Russian cities. Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the greenhouse effect and acid rains. An even greater threat are nuclear power stations. We all know how tragic the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster are. Fortunately, its not too late to solve these problems. We have the time, the money and even the technology to make our planet a better, cleaner and safer place. We can plant trees and create parks for endangered species. We can recycle litter. We can support green parties and put pressure on those on power. Together we can save the planet and all of us with it.

3 My school is eco-friendly My school is an eco-school. This means that we try to look after the environment, because our Earth is a wonderful world and we don`t want to destroy it. Becoming eco- friendly is not difficult. Everyone can do Something to protect nature. We do a lot of things. We always put our litter in a bin because litter pollutes and spoils the environment. We reuse and recycle newspapers, cans, plastic and glass bottles instead of throwing them out. Recycling saves new materials and saves energy, I think it helps to save nature.

5 People throw away glass and plastic bottles, litter, chemical waste into the river. Water is wasted and kills wildlife.

6 The countyside is spoilt People leave litter in the parks, streets, forests. It damages the environment. It hurts the animals and disturbs birds.

7 The problem has become today a very large scale. In addition, the nature begins to «help» the man to destroy the forest on the planet, and it means the person is high time to take up the mind and begin to restore forests and reduce their cutting.

8 But there is a danger not only of the atmosphere and hydrosphere The ANIMALS. People hunt and destroy many wonderful animals. For their protection and create reserves, national parks. Still in the red book in which are written animals threatened with extinction.

9 According to the International Union for conservation of nature (IUCN), the extinction threatens currently: 25% of all species of mammals, 11% of all bird species, 20% of all reptile species, 25% of all amphibian species, 34% of all fish species ( mainly freshwater ). 12 We must take care of it. The importance of this is pointed out by the ecologists, scientists, who study the relations between living things and their environment. Each of us must do everything possible to keep the land, air and water clean. The Earth is our home
