2 Wales forming part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Located to the West of England on the island United Kingdom.
3 In the North it is washed by the Irish Sea, to the South – of Bristol Bay and on the West by St.George sq.km area. Though politically associated with England Wales in 1536, he retained their cultural traditions.
4 Population is around 3 million people. Industrial areas in the South and North East Wales densely inhabited. The main and largest city – Cardiff. Other major cities – Swansea, Newport, Rhondda.

6 Wales is mainly a mountainous land with a chiefly agricultural economy and an industrial and coal-mining area in the south. The landscape is beautiful. Many English people move to Wales when they retive.
7 Since 1536 Wales has been governed by England and the heir to the throne of England has the title of Prince of Wales, but Welsh people have strong sense of identity.
8 Welsh is an ancient Celtic language, similar to Breton, spoken in Brittany, France. It is one of the most ancient languages of Europe. In the 60s Welsh was given equal status with English as an official language and is used in the law courts.
9 It is taught in school and some TV program are broadcast in Welsh. However, only about 20% of the population speaks Welsh.
