2 Conwy County Borough is a unitary authority area in the north of Wales. The population of the city is 14,000 people.
3 Conwy Castle Conwy Castle is a medieval fortification in Conwy, on the north coast of Wales. It was built by Edward I, during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289.
4 Conwy Castle were designed by Edward Is master-builder, James of St. George. Construction of the Conwy town walls were constructed when the castle was nearing completion. The castle and town were designed to function as one, the perimeter walls bonding the town to the castle. Reconstruction
5 Reconstruction of the city
6 Conwy Castle was a ruin by the end of the 18th century. In the 20th century, Conwy Castle began to be restored. It now attracts over 150,000 visitors a year. The ruined castle started to become a tourist attraction, and it was the suject of a painting by J. M. W. Turner. UNESCO considers Conwy to be one of "the finest examples of the late 13th and early 14th century military architecture in Europe".
