These will be ethnic settlements reconstructing the every-day life and spirit of past centuries, veritable museums in the open.

17 THE GREAT SILK ROAD The tourist routes will pass through Ashkhabad, the capital of the ancient Parthia, Mari (ancient Merv), Chardjou (ancient Amul), Bukhara, Samarkand, Pyandjikent (Zarafshan valley), Ura-tyube (ancient Ustrushanna).
