5 INTONATION Another important difference is intonation. When we speak, our voice goes up and down. When English people speak, their voice can go very high and quite low. When American people speak their voice is quite flat, they do go up and down but not so much. So the effect is that British people sing a lot, and American people sound much more monotonous by comparison.

6 Intonation is "the music of the language". Not only does the language sound natural, but also may change the meaning of some sentences, and it certainly does change the effect our sentences have on a native listener. British and American intonation are different: intonation top pitch is much higher in BrE, and low pitch can be a bit lower in BrE, so British people sound much more like singing when they speak, and not so much American people.But apart from that, intonation is basically the same.
