3 Gagarin was born on 9 March, 1934, in the little village Klushino(Клушино), near Gzhatsk(Гжатск).

4 His mother Anna Timofeyevna and father Alexei Ivanovich.

5 In 1951 he entered (поступил) from the Saratov industrial College. In 1955 he graduated(окончил) from College and started to learn at the flying club.

6 Yuri has flown over 40 hours, have made 196 flights(полетов).

7 April 12, 1961 he flew into space on the space ship "Vostok"

8 He scoured(облетел) the Earth for 1 hour 48 minutes and landed(приземлился) in the village of Smelovka.

9 Yuri died in a plane crash on 27 March 1968.
