2 Features of conflicts at the end of XX – beginning of XXI Conflicts old as a world. They were before the Westphalia Treaty. And they still continue.
3 After the 1990 th number of conflicts increased. In 1995 – 30 armed conflicts in 25 states In 1999 – 27 also in 25 states.
4 Types of conflicts Interstate conflicts Domestic conflicts. Have 3 groups: 1. conflicts btw central authorities and ethnic/religious groups; 2. btw various ethnic and religious groups; 3. btw state (s) and nongovernmental (terroristic) structures.

6 Diplomacy 1.Preventive diplomacy 2.Peacekeeping 3.Peacemaking 4.Peacebuilding
7 1.Preventive diplomacy is used to stop conflict before it arises to armed stage. 2.Peacekeeping – means the tools that directed to cease fire. 3.Peacemaking – means procedures for organizing negotiations btw conflicting states from the third state side. 4.Peacebuilding – means an active involvement of he 3 rd state to the post conflict regulation.
8 Info for thinking English diplomat Robert Cooper wrote that most of the modern big states do not strive for concurrence. Gaining of new territories not important anymore, and uniting of new nations for most of states would become a nightmare. Do you agree with this statement? Is it mean that in XXI c states wont struggle for territory?
