There are a lot of different unusual houses all over the word. Their style, architecture and shape amaze imagination of the most demanding architects everywhere.
But Im gonna tell you about houses that Ive seen when I was in Great Britain..
One of the world best-known unusual houses is this one. Its egg-shaped. It was build by architect Fosters in London City. Its hard to imagine that this is just an office building.
Swiss Re skyscraper in London. Who better than the renowned British architect Sir Norman Foster could come up with the idea of the most original of modern buildings in the world. Oval tower height of 180 meters, is harmoniously blended in the historical center of London.
The streamlined construction of the glass is resistant to wind gusts and reduces the load on the wall, freeing up large spaces inside the building. Its whole appearance the building makes it clear that is designed to contrast with the usual "parallelepipeds" and would not tolerate competitors similar in shape.
Next one is tower- shaped house. Previously it was just a water tower!
And it has a very interesting history. It was built 85 years ago. Then the water tower spoiled the whole view of the village (that big ugly thing for a disproportionately small anvil was devoid of any grace and beauty)
And the architects were asked to somehow dignify this defect. They came up with this ridiculous "flats", similar to a single-storey or two-storey house.
In 1979, the need for a water tower fell away, so the tower was restored several times to reshape the interior, while its fate could not be defined. In the end "The House in the Clouds" has gained five bedrooms and three bathrooms and a very nice interior, and now you can rent a room for a couple of days or a week and at the same time enjoy the beauty of life in a small house and a height.
The last one isnt very unusual by its form, but this house is extraordinary by its content ! Its Sherlock Holmes House=)
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John H. Watson lived at 221b Baker Street between , according to the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The house is protected by the government due to its "special architectural and historical interest", while the 1st floor study overlooking Baker Street is still faithfully maintained for posterity as it was kept in Victorian Times.
This sequence of photographs shows houses along the west side of Upper Baker Street. The official home of Sherlock Holmes at 221b Baker Street is just out of the picture to the right (terraced house), which is today known as the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle's first reference to the home of Sherlock Holmes was in Upper Baker Street, and this picture sequence of photographs taken at that time clearly show what the street looked like when Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson were engaged on their adventures!
The house was built in 1815It is open as a museum dedicated to the life and times of Sherlock Holmes, and the interior has been faithfully maintained for posterity exactly as described in the published stories. The building have three floors: the first floor -above a flight of 17 steps – is famous living-room and Holmes bed-room; Watsons and Mrs. Hadsons bedrooms are situated on the second floor. The third floor exhibit rooms contain a new and stunning arrangement of wax models of scenes from the stories.
