1 "THE DIVERSITY OF THE INSECT WORLD" Fonina Tatiana 2d form B Teacher: Trubnikova G. V Dzerzhinsky town, MR My collection contains a series of magazines "Insects and their friends. Each magazine contains information about classification, structure, lifestyles and legends about them.

2 Problems: - collect and study as much as possible the literature about insects; - learn the video sources; - learn the opinions of classmates; - share my knowledge with peers; Questions that I want to get answers: - How many species of insects? - Have are insects the skeleton? - What professions are ants and bees? - What eyes have flies and how do flies walk on ceiling? and many others.

3 Insects have been existed on our planet for more than 400 million years. Today scientists know about one million species of insects – it is about two-thirds of all species on earth. Part 2. My classmates about insects Most popular insect among my classmates is a ladybug, most unpleasant is a Cockroach. Part 1. Introduction

4 Part 3. The structure of insects The body of an insect consists three parts: head, chest and abdomen. On the head there are eyes, antennae, and mouth. It has wings and three pair of legs. Insects have no skeleton. The outer cover protects them. It is made of light and durable material. Part 4. Beetles, butterflies, ants, spiders and other insects… Beetles have two pair of the wings, but for flight they need only one pair. External wings protect the thin wings and soft abdomen of the beetle. Beetles

5 Life of butterflies Butterflies begin their life as caterpillars. Caterpillars eat the leaves of plants and grow fast. When they grow up, they turn into pupae. Later caterpillars become butterflies. Ants live in large families. In each family there is a workers and a queen. In some families there are also soldiers. Workers build the nest, gather food, feed the queen and the soldiers. Soldiers protect a familie from enemies. The queen lays eggs. Ants

6 Bees live in large families too. The queen lays eggs. Working bees collect nectar from the flowers and pollen. From the nectar they make honey. Bees pollinate the plants. Flies have just one pair of wings. But it does not prevent the flies to fly quickly. Flies have an excellent eyesight. Their large eyes are composed of a large number of tiny, simple eyes, which are called facets. Fly can walk on the ceiling with the help of sticky pads on feets. Bees Flies

7 Spiders are not insects because they have eight legs, they have no wings and antennae. Spiders have eight simple eyes. In the world there are more than 27,000 species of spiders. 8 Part 6: Conclusion. The world of insects is beautiful and dangerous, helpful and harmful. In preparing this research work I have learned and known a lot of insects. I will fill up my collection of insects and learn about this interesting world of insects!
