2 Flooding Flooding in the Far East began in late July due to heavy rains.Five regions: The Amur Region, Khabarovsk Krai, the Jewish Autonomous Region, Yakutia and Primorsky Krai suffered from it. Some 150 villages were flooded in the disaster area where 55,000 people live. In Khabarovsk the historical maximum of water level of 6.4 meters was exceeded. In early September, the water level near Khabarovsk could reach 8.3 meters. Volunteers deliver humanitarian aid to the flooded villages.
