3 Celebrations days, when people relax and celebrate any event. The most popular celebratio ns are New Year and Christmas.
4 Christmas People celebrate two kinds of Christmas: 1)Catholic Christmas is celebrated on 25 th of December. People have Christmas tree and give presents. Giving presents is after Christmas Eve in the morning.
5 Orthodox Christmas Orthodox Christmas is celebrated in Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia and other orthodox Slavonic countries. People celebrate this holiday on 7 th of January. Russians also have the Eve and give presents.

7 The European New Year The European New Year is the most popular holiday in Russia, but it is not so popular in Western Europe. It is celebrated on 1 st of January. The main member of the celebration is Father Frost and his granddaughter Snow-Maiden.

9 The Chinese New Year is celebrated in South-Asia. It is celebrated at different time every year. For example this (2008) year was 4706 year in Chinese calendar and began on 8 th of February.
10 Shrovetide Shrovetide was born when Russians were heathens. They respected The Sun very much and baked pancakes, because they looked like The Sun. Shrovetide is celebrated on different days every year.

12 Easter Easter is an ancient Jewish holiday. It is celebrated on different days every year like Chinese New Year or Shrovetide. In 2008 it is on 27 th of April. When people celebrate Easter, they usually colour and eat eggs.
