3 Leo Tolstoy: Was born on September, 9th 1828 in Yasnaya Polyana, died on November, 20th was a Russian writer who primarily wrote novels and short stories
4 Important dates: In 1844, he began studying law and oriental languages at Kazan University. On September 23, 1862, Tolstoy married Sophia Andreevna Behrs, who was 16 years his junior and the daughter of a court physician. In 1877 has been written its first large novel Anna Karenina
5 Continuation… In 1868 has been written the novel «War and peace» Tolstoy died in 1910, at the age of 82. He died of pneumonia at Astapo vo train station, after falling ill when he left home in the middle of winter.
6 Two most famous works His two most famous works, the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina, are acknowledged as two of the greatest novels of all time and a pinnacle of realist fiction.
7 Wide popularity Many consider Tolstoy to have been one of the world's greatest novelists It knew far outside of Russia and even shot films A 2009 film about Tolstoy's final year, The Last Station, based on the novel by Jay Parini, was made by director Michael Hoffman with Christopher Plummer as Tolstoy and Helen Mirren as Sofya Tolstoya. Both performers were nominated for Oscars for their roles.
8 My choice: I have chosen this historic figure as Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy has made the big contribution to Russian science. He is widely known as celebrated personality and extraordinary mind.
