2 Charles Darwin Charles Robert Darwin (1809 – 1882) – An English naturalist and traveller who established the foundation of the modern evolution. Theory was called after his name.
3 Learning and travelling Charles Darwin was only seven years old when his mother died. He was born on the 12th of February in 1809 in Shrubbery. He studied medicine at Edinburgh University. In 1827 he entered the Cambridge University where he studied Theology for three years. In 1831 after graduating the University he went to round – the – world journey as a naturalist on expeditionary ship of the royal fleet «Beagle». He came back to England only on the 2 nd of October in 1836.

5 During his journey he visited the Tenerife island; The Green Cape islands; the seaside of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Burning land, Tasmania and Coco islands. He made a lot of observations there. He told about them in «The Journal of Naturalist» 1839, «Zoology of the Voyage» on the Beagle 1840, «The structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs 1842» and etc.. Voyage of the Beagle
6 Marriage and children. On the 29th of January in 1839, Charles Darwin married his cousine Emmy Wedwood. The marriage ceremony was organized according to the English Church. For the first time the new – married pair lived in Gower Street in London but later they moved to Down town, the county Kent. Darwin had ten children three of them died in early age. Many of his children and grandchildren made great progress and achievements in their lives.
7 Darwin and his eldest son William Erasmus Darwin in But in 1842 spouses have moved from London into Down, where they started to live constantly. Here Darwin secluded and measured life of scientist and writer.

9 Later works. Being a young man Darwin became a member of scientific elite. In 1859 Darwin published works : ( The Origin of Species by means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life), where he showed the change of different types of plants and animals, their original appearance from earlier types.
10 Since 1837 Darwin began to keep a diary in which he contributed facts about types of home animals and sort of the plants as well as considerations about the origin of types. Beginning from 1855 Darwin corresponded with American botanist A. Row, who in two years before had stated their own ideas under influence of English science.
11 In 1868 Darwin published his second work «The Variation of Animals and Plant under Domestification» which included a lot of examples of bioevolution. In his next book «The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex» Darwin gave argument. Among the other book of Darwin there are: «Monograph on the Girripaedia 1851 – 1854, «The Fertilization of Orchids 1862, The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals 1872.
12 He died at Down House on 19 April He was buried in Westminster Abbey, close to John Herschel and Isaac Newton.
