3 Another story is that February,14 is the day when birds choose their mates and start building the nest,so people also choose the ones they love on that day.
4 Today is the 14 th of February. Most European countries and the USA celebrate Saint Valentine's Day. They have special customs to observe on that day. Fist of all it is celebrated in families. It is a good time to show your love to your Mother, Grandmother, sister, brother, or other relatives and friends. This is the time to tell your beloved ones how you love them.
5 People write postcards to each other. Congratulations can be made in either serious or joyous manners. Red or pink postcards in the form of heart has become a specific symbol of this day.
6 The ornaments that decorate valentines are symbols of love and friendship. In the language of symbols, a red or pink heart pierced with an arrow denotes love.
7 Cupid, the Roman god of love is a symbol of passionate or playful love. When his arrow hits your heart, you'll fall hopelessly in love with someone.
8 Lace symbolizes a net for catching a lover's heart. So if you get a valentine with a piece of lace, it means that a person who has sent it is passionately in love with you. Lace means «You have caught my heart in a net».
9 A ribbon means that a person is tied up. It says «You are tied up» or «You are my girl»
10 A red rose is the most romantic symbol of love
11 People usually send greeting cards with words of love to their sweethearts, friends, members of their families. They give roses, chocolates and other presents to them.
