2 What is Whipsnade? Whipsnade Wild Animal Park is one of the two parks of the Zoological Society of London (the other is London Zoo).
3 Where is it? Whipsnade Wild Animal Park is at Whipsnade, near Dunstable, England. other wild animal parks
4 How many animals live in the park? The area of the park is 2.4 square kilometres. It is a home to 2, 955 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild.
5 How are animals kept? Most animals are kept in large enclosures, and many of them walk freely around the park.
6 What is the symbol of Whipsnade? Whipsnade White Lion, a large carved figure on a hill is the symbol of Whipsnade.
7 Can people visit the Park? Whipsnade Wild Animal Park was opened for visitors on 23 May, 1931 and became popular very quickly. Visitors may walk, use the Zoos bus or drive their own cars.
8 What were the first animals at Whipsnade? The Brown Bear enclosure is the earliest in the Park.
9 Lions of the Serengeti Lions of the Serengeti is a home to a pride of lions. A male is named Spike, two females are named Mashaka-Lia and Kachanga, and four younger lions – Kea, Kato, Toto and Neo.
10 Sea Lion Splash! What is it? Its a daily demonstration in which 5 trained sea lions perform tricks and stunts in their pool.
11 Asian elephants A herd of 9 Asian elephants has three pools, mud wallows, dust baths.
12 Can visitors learn about birds? There is a daily educational show in which the keepers present different birds and demonstrate their natural talents.
13 What kinds of animals live in Childrens farm? Childrens farm has domestic animals: turkeys, cows, horses, donkeys, goats. This part of the park is for little visitors.
14 How can you learn about animals in the Park? Every day during summer season keepers give talks about lemurs, giraffes, penguins and other animals.
15 Who takes care of animals? A lot of scientists work in the Park. They study the animals, while keepers and vets take care of them.
