The Novoshakhtinsk Drama Theatre is the eighth professional theatre in Rostov region.

. For big creative success and mastery the troupe was given the name of «People`s Theatre» in 1959.

Artistic director and chief producer of the theatre nowadays

On January the first, 2003 the theatre got the status of a professional theatre. It was given a building of a former cinema theatre. Its space is 1000 square metres 300 spectators can watch the performance.

Professional producers help the theatre. Among them: S. Maltsev from the Far East Theatre, I. Drevalev from Moscow, A. Phida from Rostov-on-Don, I. Cherkashin and others

On March, 26, 2004 the best representatives of Don theatres and our actors planted a cherry garden near the theatre. It was the beginning of a new and very interesting tradition.

Rostov region is rich in theatres. S. Sopova was the first producer. They stage the plays of Russian playwrights only. The theatre has no building of its own. There are no performances for children. They don`t take part in competitions.

Who headed an amateur theatre? When did the theatre get the name of «People`s Theatre»? Is it a professional theatre now? Who helps the theatre? Does the theatre travel abroad? What tradition appeared in the theatre?
