All rights reserved.2 Backup Voic Server Operation For IP Office R6.0, the central IP Office hosting the Voic Pro server can be configured with the IP address of a backup voic server. – If the central voic server becomes unavailable to the network, the backup server will be used to provide voic services. – When the central voic server is restored, the central IP Office will switch back to using the central voic server for voic services and any new messages on the backup server are synchronized. – The backup voic server operates using the existing voic licenses installed in the central IP Office for normal operation. The Backup Voic Server option requires the voic servers to be running Voic Pro 6.0 or higher.

IIS must be installed on both the Central and Backup voic servers so there is a Mail Drop folder for exchanging files between servers. 9 The Mail Server field must point to the fully qualified machine name (e.g. vmserver.au.com) and not the IP address of the local machine. Ensure the port used by SMTP (25) is not blocked by any security or firewall settings.

For example: 220 ESMTP server ready. If a positive response is received, enter quit and press [Enter] to close the telnet connection to the SMTP server. Test the connection in both directions between the Central and Backup voic servers.
