Sights of the Altai Territory
Belokurikha Of course, the name Belokurikha is known to many people. It is a health resort in the south of Siberia. City resort Belokurikha is located in picturesque foothills of Altai in the valley of the river Belokurikha which is 250m above sea level.
Another famous place in Altai is the village Srostki. Vasily Shukshin was born there. He was a famous Soviet writer, film director and actor. An annual cultural festival in the writer's birthday is held at mountain Picket.
Salt Lake Big Yarovoye - the lowest point in the Altai region. The lake is located at an altitude of 79 meters above sea level. Resort town Yarovoye is located in the steppe Kulunda on Lake Big Yarovoye, 15 km from the border with Kazakhstan. Lake Area is about 53 km², length of 11.5 km, a maximum width 8 km.
Tavdinskie caves - an array of a large number of caves on the border Maiminsky district of the Altai Republic and Altai Krai. Cave got its name from the name of the village Tavda previously located within walking distance from these sites. The length of the caves is about 5 km. It is favorite place of tourists.
Aya - lake in the Altai Territory, located in a mountain valley in the left bank of the Katun River, 10 km south of the village Mayma. The lake is a popular holiday destination. There are are several camp sites around it. In the center of the lake is a small island with a gazebo on it. There are picturesque mountain scenery, caves and pine forests near this lake.
