All rights reserved.GWGK v Module Summary The P2P mode protocols H.323 and SIP, as well as the client-server architecture protocols MGCP and SCCP, are used as gateway signaling protocols for Cisco IOS-based IP-to-PSTN and IP-to-IP gateways. H.323 is an extremely flexible gateway signaling protocol that needs a complex dial peer configuration. Implementing MGCP as a gateway signaling protocol within a Cisco Unified CallManager environment is quite simple. SIP is ideal as a gateway signaling protocol when connecting to a VoIP service provider with a simple trunk or as an SIP UA.
