Gothic HISTORY Gothic Goths are germanic tribes, who lived in the I-st century on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea and in the lower running of the Visla, where they came from Scandinavia. Beginning with the II-nd century moved to the south and occupied the territory from the Don to the Danube. In the III-d century goths divided into western goths and eastern goths. The gunnic invasion partly moved, partly exterminated the gothic tribes. Small groups of goths were still met in the 12-th century on the Black Sea coast, in Taman, in the Crimea. They are also mentioned in The Song of Igors Campaign. Some people suppose that inside one of the Slavonic tribes – Drevliane – there was a family nest of the gothic princes, the Amals. Gothic HISTORY OF GOTHS Gothic Ostgoths Ostgoths, ostrogoths, greytungs is a germanic tribe, the eastern branch of goths. Since the III-d century they settled along the Dnieper and formed a vast tribal union. The ostgoths occupied the territory from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Later they were defeated by the gunnes and partly moved to the Roman territories. After disintegration of the gunnic tribal union they settled along the Danube. In ostgoths conquered Italy and formed a kingdom with the capital in Verona. Later they were defeated by the Roman Emperor Ustinian the First in the middle of the VI-th century. Gothic HISTORY OF GOTHS Gothic Westgoths, tervings is a germanic tribe,the western branch of goths. In the III-d they used to occupy the territory from the Dniester up to the Dniepers mouth. In 376 were allowed to settle on the territory of the Roman Empire. In 377 organized rebellion against Romans and defeated them. In 410 they annexed and plundered Rome. In settled in Aquitania, where they formed the first barbarian kingdom on the territory of the Roman Empire with the capital in Tulsa. At the beginning of the VI-th century the centre of west gothic kingdom moved to Spain (Toledian kingdom). In VIII century their state was destroyed by Arabs. B A C KC O N T E N T

Goths nowadays Goths are representatives of a youth subculture known as GOTHIC SUBCULTURE. It was inspired by gothic novels, gothic music, and gothic theatre. Goths appeared in 1979 on the post-punk wave. The punk potage they turned to vampire culture. Beside listening to gothic rock and visiting concerts, their main feature is cemetery walks.
