Contour tool
Copyright ® 2000 MSC.Software Results S16-6 PAT301, Section 16, October 2003 ISOSURFACE TOOL Isosurfaces can be displayed as surfaces of constant result value or as coordinate planes with other tools posted on top of them Coordinate based isosurfaceResult based isosurface

New or existing file may be specified New data can be selected to overwrite or be appended to the selected output file. Data may be previewed on the screen before it is written to the file Data file format may be specified and the data sorted Result values selected by the Cursor Tool can be written to a file

Copyright ® 2000 MSC.Software Results S16-11 PAT301, Section 16, October 2003 CREATING AN INSIGHT TOOL For each Insight Tool, you must specify; The action assigned to the tool (Create, Modify, Delete) The Tool type The Results Load Case and result type
Copyright ® 2000 MSC.Software Results S16-12 PAT301, Section 16, October 2003 CREATING AN ISOSURFACE TOOL Choose Create from the Action menu Select the Isosurface tool Accept the default Isosurface Name or specify your own Create the Isosurfaces At location within the model based on Result values Along specified coordinate axes By default, tools will be posted as they are created Superimpose the tools on a target type If selected, Tool will act on all posted groups Target the groups the tool will act upon Apply the specified values creating the tool
Copyright ® 2000 MSC.Software Results S16-13 PAT301, Section 16, October 2003 RESULTS SELECTION FOR AN ISOSURFACE Define the Result Isovalue range by specifying a minimum and maximum value Select the number of isosurfaces to exist in the defined Isovalue range Select a specific result type from the chosen load case Specify the layer to post-process, if applicable to the current result Selected result Transformation Method (e.g. Principal Component, Magnitude, etc.) Element result to node mapping selections Select Current Load Case

Enable animation and select an Animation Type Animation Type Global Variable allows the animation of a tool with respect to any global variable Ramp allows animation of a tools associated dependent variable by multiplying its maximum value by a range of scale factors from 0 to 1 Sinusoidal animation applies a sine function (-1 < sine < 1) to the maximum value of the tools associated dependent variable
Copyright ® 2000 MSC.Software Results S16-20 PAT301, Section 16, October 2003 ANIMATION CONTROL Once the animation has started, you can pause and change the animation attributes Animation Method: Cycle:animation cycles in a circular manner (frame 1,2,…,max,1,2,…,max etc.) Bounce:animation cycles from max to min (frame 1,2,…,max,max-1, etc.) Once the animation is paused, it can be advanced forward one frame at a time Turn Reduced Rendering on to increase the animation speed To terminate the animation tool select the Clear button
