COLLOQUIALISMS AND THEIR SPHERE OF COMMUNICATION
CURRENT IMPORTANCE The current importance of the present research is evident because colloquial speech occupies a prominent place in our lives, and is viewed by some linguists as a system of language means so strongly differing from those presented in the formal (literary) communication that it can be classified as an independent entity with its own peculiar units and rules of their structuring.
Aims and tasks of the research The main aim of the present research is to study colloquial speech. This aim has identified the following tasks to be solved within the frame of the research: To study branches of stylistics To investigate basic notion about colloquial style To make an overview of the origin of slang To study the the sources of modern slang To investigate distinction between colloquialisms and slang
Colloquial speech is characterised by the frequent use of words with a broad meaning (something close to polysemy): speakers tend to use a small group of words in quite different meanings, whereas in a formal style (official, business, scientific) every word is to be used in a specific and clear meaning. With respect to the functional styles, vocabulary can be subdivided into bookish (literary), which is typical of formal styles, and colloquial vocabulary which is typical of the lower style in oral communication; besides there is always present in the language a stylistically neutral vocabulary which can be used in different kinds of style.

Colloquial style is the type of speech which is used in situation that allows certain deviations from the rigid pattern of literary speech used not only in a private conversation, but also in private correspondence. So the style is applicable both to the written and oral varieties of the terms "colloquial" and "bookish" don't exactly correspond to the oral and written forms of speech. Maltzev suggests terms "formal" and "informal" and states that colloquial style is the part of informal variety of English which is used orally in conversation Colloquialisms are often used primarily within a limited geographical area, known by linguists to spread through normal conversational interaction of a language, though more often now through informal online interaction.linguists
