Lets get down to our topic Dont be a litterbug! Do you always put your garbage in the garbage can? Where do you throw your garbage at school? Who in your class throws litter on the floor? Does the litter spoil the view? Do you throw litter on the ground in the street?
Short answers Well, give me short answers to the following questions. Use adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, occasionally, seldom, rarely, hardly, ever, never) in your answers. Do you ever throw litter on the ground? Do you always throw garbage in the garbage can? Do you usually help clean up the litter? Does litter always spoil the view? Do you sometimes help to clean up the litter? Does your friend ever help you?
Lets read the text. Text. Litter is garbage – like food, paper and cans – on the ground or in the street. Where many people live together, litter is a problem. People dont always put their garbage in the garbage can. Its easier to drop a paper than to find a garbage can for it. But litter is ugly. It makes the city look dirty and spoils the view. Some people want to control litter. They never throw litter themselves and sometimes they work together in groups to clean up to the city. In the most places litter is against the law. The law punishes people who throw garbage on the streets. They usually pay a fine, and occasionally they go to jail. Two famous saying in the United States are: Dont be a litterbug! and Every litter bit hurts!
Ask and answer the questions Change each sentence into a question. Then answer each question with a short answer. For example, Litter is a problem in our cities. First student: Is litter a problem in our cities? Second student: Yes, it is. Litter is ugly. Papers are difficult to catch. This fence is a wall of garbage. Litter is against the law. People dont always put their garbage in the garbage can. Litter makes the city look ugly. Litter spoils the view. The wind blows papers faraway. Food and garbage bring animals. Animals sometimes carry disease. Some people want to control litter. They never throw litter themselves. The law punishes the litterbugs. They usually pay a fine.
Make a sentence Well, now you make a sentence with each frequency adverb. Look at the blackboard! There are 6 frequency adverbs, which youll use in your sentences. The ready sentences write down in your exercise- books. (not) always – People dont always put their garbage in the garbage can. often sometimes usually occasionally never
