Maude Abrantes This painting is one of Modiglianis earlier works, and has a more traditional look. This painting also shows the artists later style in the figures elongated (удлиненный, вытянутый) neck and the somber (мрачный) emotion on her face. There is also much more detail in her clothing and her face than in Modiglianis later works, which are characterized (охарактеризованный )by simple lines and few discernible (различимый)features. Tehuana Tehuantepec (in full, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec) is a city and in the southeast of the Mexican state of Oaxaca. The city is known for its women and their traditional dress. There is a small portrait of her husband, Diego Rivera, a famous muralist ( живописец, муралист ) on her forehead.

Ivan Aivazovsky Aivazovsky is best known for his seascapes and coastal scenes. His technique and imagination in depicting the shimmering (мерцающий) light on the waves and seafoam is especially admired, and gives his seascapes a romantic yet realistic quality. His ability to depict sunlight and moonlight, sometimes coming from behind clouds, sometimes coming through a fog, with almost transparent (прозрачный) layers of paint (слои краски). A series of paintings of naval battles painted in the 1840s showed his dramatic skills, with the flames of burning ships reflected in water and clouds. He also painted landscapes, including scenes of peasant life in Ukraine and city life in İstanbul.
