HOLIDAYS IN BRITAIN
Christmas Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December. It is the most popular holiday in Britain. Before Christmas people are very busy. They buy presents, decorate Christmas tree, send greeting cards. On Christmas Eve parents put presents into the stockings as though Santa Claus brings them. Britains prepare special food. Traditional English dishes are roast turkey, Christmas pudding and pies.

The 14 th of February is called Valentines DayThe 14 th of February is called Valentines Day. It is a day of lovers. That is when every man and every woman thinks about his or her sweetheart. On this day you can buy cards in shops or you can make cards yourselves. St.Valentines Day has roots in several legends. Cupid, the Roman god of love, is one of the earliest popular symbols of the day. Valentine was a Christian priest.On Febrary 14 he was killed because he was a Christian. Most people send valentines. But they dont sign them. They write, I love you, darl ing or Will you be my Valentine?

Halloween Halloween is celebrated on the 31st of October. They say ghosts and witches come out on Halloween. Children make lanterns out of pumpkings. Some people have Halloween parties and dress as witches and ghosts.
Easter Easter is a religious holiday. It is celebrated in April. It is a time for the giving and receiving presents which take the form of an Easter eggs. At Easter children eat chocolate eggs. Other popular emblems of Easter are fluffy little chicks, an Easter Bunny and daffodils.
