Jack London is a writer whose works are enthusiastically read all over the world. His collection « Love of Life » is one of the brilliant pearls of his Northern stories cycle. Alaska is the place where each person should reveal their own real features. The Northern makes equal the poor and the rich ː harsh, biting wind is indifferent to the social status, and a wild beast does not discriminate between social standing. In the confrontation with the severe nature, the heroes of the adducted works not only thanks to their courage and energy, but first and foremost, due to the strength of mind, an obsession with life, the capability even in the extreme situations to remain a Human.

« LOVE OF LIFE » The story was about two men who were tired and hungry. They wandered by the Great Bear Lake. They did not know any dates. Then one of them was injured so another left him. It was a real challenge for injured man because he could not make any movements he had no food he had only few matches. Due to hunger he begun hallucinating and ate everything he saw on his path : partridge small birds and even for survive he had to eat a wolf.

« THE STORY OF KEESH » Keesh lived on the shore of the Arctic Sea and was a leader. His father was brave but unfortunately killed in the battle with the polar bear. The whole village was suffer from famine particularly Keesh and his mother. But one event has changed his life forever and he became a hero.

« THE SUN-DOG-TRAIL » Sitka Charley was a postman and when he was transporting all the letters by boat ІІ everyone would like to go with him. Once a beautiful woman asked to go with him that was where all his adventures began. The postman did not even know the purpose of this trip but he was a participant until the very end.

« THE UNEXPECTED » Hans and Edith moved to another house because Hans was a gold digger. There were another five men in their new house. But once they had unexpected. One of that men came into a house and began to shoot from the gun in the co-workers. The scared spouse was forced to do a terrible crime to survive.They hung the killer and dug him a grave.

« BROWN WOLF » The story was about an extraordinary loyalty of the dog to its master. Even after the owner has left the dog it prefers to stay with man than with the new owners.

« THE WHITE MANS WAY » The story of a white man living with a wild tribe. Describing the difference between peoples action and their values. A tribe could not understand the white man because he was different from them and his actions werent repeated twice. The white man also considered those people and their customs strange.

« A DAYS LODGING » Tells of a man who was driving in the cold winter near a lake with dogs and stopped in a house where no one lived. But suddenly another man and a woman came to the house.The husband recognized his wife who escaped with another man. The man told a story and that changed the stay of all three people under one roof.

« NEGORE THE COWARD » All people in village called Negore a coward because he was not in the battle in Alaska. After long reproaches of his wife he decided to go to the Russian army. He resorted to tricks with the enemy but it cost him life.
