George Washington ( ) In 1789 Washington became the first president of the United States. Even during his life time Washington was labelled father of his country. Many observers praised his horseman ship and great physical strength – he privately opposed slavery.

Henry Ford ( ) Famous for being the founder of the Ford Motor Company – whilst he did not invent the first automobile, he did manufacture the first affordable automobile. He became one of the richest and well known people of the world. He ultimately revolutionised transportation and American industry.

Neil Armstrong ( ) A famous American astronaut, Armstrong was the first person to walk on the moon. Armstrong was a very humble person and was referred to as a reluctant American Hero. Before becoming an astronaut Armstrong was an officer in the U.S Navy and served in the Korean War.

Bill Gates (1955) Bill Gates is the current chairman and former CEO of the worlds largest personal- computer software company, Microsoft. A Company he co- founded with Paul Allen. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires List, Gates is the worlds richest person this year – a title he also held in Time magazine named Gates one of the 100 people who most influenced the 20 th century.

Michael Jackson ( ) The well known singer- songwriter, dancer and business man, Michael Jackson is referred to as The King of Pop. The Guinness book of world records recognised him as the most successful entertainer of all time; he was a global figure in popular culture for over 4 decades. MJ started off his career in the Jackson 5 and later became a solo act. His album Thiller is the best selling album of all time.

Thomas Edison (1847 – 1931) Thomas Alva Edison (Febru ary 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman who has been described as America's greatest inventor. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures.

Madonna (1958 – ) Madonna is a pop music singer and actress who went solo in 1981 and became a sensation in the then male- dominated 1980s music scene. By 1991, she had achieved 21 Top 10 hits in the United States and sold more than 70 million albums internationally. In January 2008, she was named the world's wealthiest female musician by Forbes magazine.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN Benjamin Franklin (January 17, 1706 – April 17, 1790) was an American statesman and scientist. He has also been known as "the First American". He was a very important person in the American Revolution and helped make the Thirteen Colonies one nation.

Jimmy Wales (1966 – ) Jimmy Donal Wales is an internet entrepreneur the co- founder of Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia that runs with an open management style. Times magazine named him in their list of The 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2006.Wikipedia
