History of Moscow State University Moscow University is considered to be the oldest Russian University. It was founded in The establishment of the University in Moscow became possible thanks to the work of the outstanding scientist-encyclopedist, the first Russian academician Mikhail Lomonosov.
M. V. Lomonosov attached great importance to the creation of the system of higher education in Russia. Back in 1724, the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, founded by Peter I, established a University and a gymnasium for the training of scientific personnel in Russia. But the academic gymnasium and the University did not cope with this task. Therefore, M. V. Lomonosov repeatedly raised the question of opening a University in Moscow. His proposals, formulated in a letter to I. I. Shuvalov, formed the basis of the project of the Moscow University.

Opportunities Many opportunities for admission to the Moscow state University are provided to the winners of the all- Russian Olympiad in the entrance exams. For free training you must pass the entrance test and the exam with a high score. The rest can come on a commercial basis. Nonresident students are provided with a hostel.
