One of the most revered idols were Lat, Uzza and Manat whose names are mentioned in the Quran. Sometimes idols became the graves of the righteous, on which were built the temples.

In religious beliefs of the Arabs played spirits, personifies the forces of good and evil. The Arabs believed that the spirits are able to harm and to help people discover their secret and confidential. Spirits are usually caused by soothsayers and sorcerers, who were engaged in magic and predictions, helping to treat patients and to find lost animals.
