Seven Wonders of the World
In all times creations of hands human embarrassed a look and imagination. Certainly, not every creation causes all-round admiration. And however, there are in the world unique building near that all detain breathing without an exception. We, indisputably, much about them know, but agree, each time, as though first contemplate with especially child's pleasure these wonders created by imagination and efforts of people and perpetuated for descendants. Therefore let once again will submerge in the world Large and Magic.
Pyramid of Cheops The largest of the Egyptian pyramids. Go to the top three of the most famous pyramids on the Giza Heopca, Khefren Miquerin. The pyramid is found on the west bank of the Nile, in the necropolis of Giza and is a complex of ancient monuments as during the Egyptian pharaohs were part of the ancient city of Memphis (part of the Great Cairo). Semiramids Gardens According to ancient legends, the Hanging Gardens of the Semiramids were located on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, approximately 50 kilometers from southern Baghdad. In the architectural plan Hanging Gardens were a pyramid consisting of four tiers - platforms, supported by columns up to 25 meters high. The pyramid resembled an ever-blooming green hill.
Statue of Zeus Ancient Greek statue of Zeus, the work of Phidias, was established in the center of the Temple of Zeus in Olympia on the peninsula of Peloponnesus. According to Pavasani, at first glance it seemed incredible that the temple could accommodate this statue. Temple of Artemis The temple was a rectangular building made of marble and 105-meter long and 51-meter wide, surrounded by a double colonnade with 127 columns 18 meters high. Information about the decoration of the temple is not preserved, but it is known that inside was a gold-stamped statue of Artemis with a height of more than 2 m.
Mausoleum in Halicarnassus Temple of the tomb and tombstone of King Mavsola, erected on the orders of his wife Artemis III in Halicarnassus. According to long legends, Mavsol was the ruler of Caria, a country that was part of the Persian Empire. Mavsol married his sister Artemisy. Gaining ever greater power, he began to think about a tomb for himself and his queen. The mausoleum dreamed of a grand monument that would remind the world of its riches and power long after its death. Mavsol died before the work on the tomb was completed, but his widow continued to lead the construction until complete completion. The tomb was called a mausoleum, in the name of the king, and this word became a sign of any significant and magnificent tomb.
Kolos Rodosian The huge statue of the Greek god of the Sun Helios was erected at the entrance to the harbor of. Rhodes, a disciple of Lisppa, Hares of Lindos. During its existence, it was the highest statue of the world, a height of 70 cubits (31.5 m). Compared to other Wonders of the World, Kolos of Rhodes "lived" a short life. Approximately 50 years after its creation, it was destroyed by an earthquake: from the strong tremors the knees of a statue were broken, it collapsed down. Parts of the bronze body of the Sun god for centuries settled on the ground, giving birth to various legends.
