to + verb = infinitive Ex I want to eat pizza. The majority of verbs require infinitive When we use modal verbs (must, can, could, should we dont use to) I can walk. He could speak English pretty well. verb+ing = gerund Some verbs require gerund Ex Suddenly everybody stopped talking. I like swimming. (these are such verbs as enjoy, like/dislike, stop, admit, suggest, deny, avoid, keep/keep on, practice)
