Konstantin Konstantinovich Rokossovsky was born in Warsaw. Konstantin's father, Ksawery Wojciech Rokossowski, was a railway official and his Belarusian mother Antonina Ovsyannikova was a teacher. Orphaned at 14, Rokossovsky earned a living by working in a stocking factory, and some time later he became an apprentice stonemason. Konstantin Rokossovsky as a Lieutenant-General.
On joining the Kargopolsky 5th Dragoon Regiment, Rokossovsky soon showed himself a talented soldier and leader; he ended the war with the rank of a junior non- commissioned officer, serving in the cavalry during the war. During the Russian Civil War he commanded a cavalry squadron of the Kargopolsky Red Guards Cavalry Detachment in the campaigns against the White Guard armies of Aleksandr Kolchak. He was wounded in the shoulder. For courage received the Order of the Red Banner. the Order of the Red Banner
Together with Zhukov graduated refresher courses of commanders. And in 1926 went to Mongolia, where he was preparing the army, and then in the Trans-Baikal region and the Far East. During the Great Patriotic War Rokossovsky commanded the 9 th mechanized corps, the 4 th army and then was transferred to the Western Front. A group of troops led by Rokossovsky stopped the powerful attack of Nazi troops. Then, during the German offensive on Moscow, he commanded the 16 th army.
He also commanded the troops of the Bryansk, Don, Central, the 1 st and the 2 nd Belorussian Fronts. On 29 June 1944 he was promoted to the rank of the Soviet Union Marshal. On July 29, 1944, Konstantin Rokossovsky was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, the Order of Lenin and the two Gold Star medals. the Order of Lenin Hero of the Soviet Union Gold star medal
June 24, 1945 Rokossovsky commanded the Victory Parade in Moscow. After the war, Marshal was sent to Poland, the Polish army was engaged in rearmament. Back in the USSR, in 1956 he became Deputy Minister of Defense. August 3, 1968 Konstantin Rokossovsky died in Moscow, where he was buried near the Kremlin wall on Red Square.
