An informal letter or a friendly letter is a letter to a close friend or an acquaintance. There are many reasons for writing a friendly letter, but usually friendly letters consist of topics on a personal level. Friendly letters can either be printed or hand-written.
Friendly letters have five parts: 1. The Heading 2. The Salutation (greeting) 3. The Body 4. The Closing 5. The Signature
The Heading The first part of a friendly letter is called the heading. The heading includes the writers address and the date. The heading is written in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

The Salutation (Greeting) The second part of the friendly letter is the greeting. It is written under the heading at the left margin. It begins with a capital letter and ends with a comma. The greeting usually starts with 'Dear' and is followed the person's name and then a comma. Dear Ann,
The body The body of the letter is the information you are writing in your letter. The body of the letter is in paragraph form. The first line of each paragraph is indented.
The Closing In the closing the first word is capitalized and you put a comma after the last word. Some examples of closings are: Your friend, Love, Best wishes, Best wishes, Yours, Yours,
