National symbol of the U.S. bald eagle started in 1782, when his image appeared on the Great seal of the United States (the coat of arms of the United States). Depicted on the front side of the print eagle holds in one hand a symbol of the war - boom, and in another the symbol of the world - an olive branch. The author of the proposal on the choice of the bald eagle to the image of the coat of arms of the United States was the Secretary of the Continental Congress Charles Thomson. According to legend, during one of the first battles of the independence of the young American Republic, bald eagles, awakened by gunshots, flew out of the nest and shouting circled over the heads of the fighting. "They are shouting for freedom",- said supposedly one of the American patriots. It is considered that the bald eagle symbolizes the strength, courage, freedom, and immortality. In the second half of the XX century the population of the bald eagle on the territory of the continental States of the United States has declined considerably and even was under the threat of disappearance. Due to the government of the USA measures for the restoration of their abundance at the present time the situation has improved considerably.
