During the Battle of Kursk( Kursk Bulge) there was an unprecedented tank battle in the history of wars. Here,in the Prohorovka, more then 1200 tank from both sides (Russian and German troops) faced each other in The famous duel took plan as from July 5 th till August 23 rd,1943. The Fuscist Army sufferred a shattering defeat here.

Battle in Prohorovka has become a critical point during the World War II.The initiative has completely passed to the Soviet armies. Into Russian history battle in Prohorovka has entered as a Field of Russian Glory.

In 1995 the state military-historical memorial estate "Prohorovsky field". It is a monument to the heroic people - to the winners. Places under Prohorovka where the battle took place have entered the history.

In May, 1995 a solemn opening of the Victory Monument took place. This white- stone belfry has shot up over boundless fields.

The forgotten sounds of a bell come back to Russians together with words of a prayer for the dead about the lost soldiers. The temple of sacred apostles Peter and Pavel in Prohorovke is devoted their memory. It is constructed on national donations in the best traditions of domestic architecture.

The temple became a place of spiritual revival. Pilgrims were pulled in the Prohorovka. The Sunday school, public library operates. The belief, spirituality, patriotism feed memory of the people, create his soul, its future.
