I want to tell you about Edmund Bler Leytons picture The girl in the garden. Edmund Bler Leyton is a British painter of the 19 th centure. He was born in 1853 in London. He made his pictures on historical subjects.

In the centre of the painting you can see a young woman. She has thick black hair and a nice face. She is staying on the path in the garden, maybe she is walking there. This woman is wearing a white long dress with a blue belt on her waist. On her head the girl has a yellow hat with a big blue bow. She is keeping a basket with small flowers in one hand and a nice red rose in the other hand. The woman is looking at those flowers with some sadness and is thinking about something.

To the right and to the left of the woman you can see a lot of different flowers such us roses, camomiles and mallows. There is a high brick wall behind the girl. On that wall an old ivy grows. Also there is a green wooden door in the wall. That door is an entry to the garden. In the doorway a young man is staying and watching the woman with some interest. He has a suit and a hat on.
