The English drink tea six times a day, and each time of the day corresponds to different kinds of tea and their traditions. The British themselves joke that it is easier to imagine Britain without the Queen, than without tea.

Englishmans day begins with a cup of tea called "English Breakfast". They drink it twice - once in bed, the other at breakfast. The British wake up very early, at 6 or 7 o'clock in the morning, and a cup of strong tonic tea they need to get up.

Tea "English Breakfast" is rich in caffeine, but is not safe for the stomach, especially if the tea is drunk "on an empty stomach". Therefore, this tea is usually mixed with milk. It's also tasty with lemon.

Lunch also usually ends with a cup of tea. This is a strong tonic tea, but it has more soft taste in comparison with the "Breakfast". At lunch snacks are more different: bread, butter, boiled eggs, toast with cinnamon, almond biscuits, jam (mainly strawberry), biscuits, sweets.

The whole day the British have tea breaks. In some offices they can be almost every hour. A short afternoon tea is usually accompanied by small snacks, and is called the "low tea".

The famous five-o-clock tea appeared in Tea for "five-o'clock" was called "English tea".

Tea as an evening meal in the 7-8 hours is called "high tea". Evening is a time for an English tea "Earl grey". The aroma of freshly brewed tea with bergamot has a magical property: when it spreads through the house, it creates an atmosphere of comfort and raises mood. If you want you can add a small amount of milk into your cup.

An informal tea reception you can get on the phone or by a personal meeting. If the reception is formal, the invitations are sent by mail, and ideally by the standard postcard or on a paper form.

The table is always decorated with monotonous tablecloth and white or blue napkins - in tone with the tablecloth, and certainly with a small vase with flowers.

Tea with herbs In a cup of hot tea the British add four pieces of cinnamon, teaspoon cloves and three teaspoons grated lemon peel for a few minutes. Such tea, especially with sugar, is very good at long winter evenings. Tea-Scots (high-altitude) A teaspoon of tea leaves is poured with glass of hot milk. In the strained milk with tea you can add honey or sugar.

The main thing for tea drinking is sugar. Sliced lemon is served on a separate plate. Snacks are brought in the presence of visitors. If tea breaks are few, snacks should be changed.

A cup of English tea is a symbol of comfort and respect of the traditions. A famous British Prime-Minister of the XIX century, sir William Gladstone devoted a poem to tea: Tea is the cure of all If you are cold, tea will warm you. If you are too heated, tea will cool you. If you are too depressed, tea will cheer you. If you are too exhausted, tea will calm you.
