Vera Kholodnaya (1893 – 1919) Vera Levchenko was born to a family of teacher. She started playing in films in Her first role was some episodic role in the screen version of Anna Karenina. She lived for 26 years only, but she starred in a great number of films.
Ivan Mozjukhin (1888 – 1939) He received the education of a lawyer, but he decided to connect his life with the theatre and cinema. Ivan started playing in films in He first role was in the screen version of Tolstoys novel. He starred in a great quantity of melodramas, comedies, dramas.
Alexander Khanzhonkov He was born to the family of Kazaks. As a real Kazak he served in the Kazaks Army, but he had to leave it because of health problems. He got some money and put them into the film industry. In 1906 Alexander became the owner of the company which demonstrated foreign films and made Russian films.
Alexander Rou (1906 – 1973) He was an outstanding director, scriptwriter and actor. He was, maybe, the only director who devoted all his life to shooting fairy-tales only. The first one was By the Pikes wish (1938). But his most famous fairy-tale is Father Frost.
