6 MAIN OBJECTIVES to improve the enabling environment for food innovation by capacity building of the supporting institutional framework and by promotion of public awareness on benefits of innovation in the food sector through transnational collaboration
7 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES (1) to develop national innovation strategies following a common framework for improving the competitiveness of food sector, particularly SMEs, to help the economic growth of SEE, creation of jobs and ensure sustainable development; to improve coordination mechanism of efforts for enhancing innovation through new approach of collaboration of governance institutions and other stakeholders within the NFTPs, exploiting the potential in transnational collaboration of NFTPs; to develop skills of SEE institutions in using effective tools to foster innovation: food chain management, transdisciplinary collaboration with ICT sector, knowledge transfer and practices of using industry panels, based on collective learning and shared costs; to promote the use of ICT based tools for fostering innovation
8 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES (2) to develop pilot systems for institutions for provision of collective innovation support services for food SMEs; to improve recognition of food innovation and entrepreneurship by the public through delivering a campaign and access to young people to encourage them to join the food sector and develop entrepreneurial spirit; to disseminate results to a wider community and also beyond the food sector; to integrate nonEU countries into the development of SEE; to establish an SEE regional forum for concerting efforts and sharing successful approaches of different types of food innovation supporting, research and education institutions and organisations

11 WP1 – Transnational project and financial management The WP deals with the management of the project and the consortium. The consortium consists of the Lead Partner (TETALAP), the WP leaders and other partners. TETALAP is responsible for: the scientific and technical implementation of the project, it is the link between the Joint Technical Secretariat (JTS) and the project consortium, and manage the projects overall administrative, financial and communication issues.
12 WP2 – Communication activities Responsible partner: CCIS-CAFE Objectives: to ensure effective and regular exchange of information between the PPs; to disseminate project results to the stakeholders of the innovation framework for innovation and to establish regular dialogue with them; to raise awareness of the public on the project and the importance of innovation in the food sector and the transnational cooperation to enhance innovation; to establish a SEE transnational forum for regular exchange of experiences during and beyond the end of the project; to organise national workshops to the stakeholders of innovation framework and a joint final conference for transnational communication of the results of the project to make the operation and benefits of NFTPs more visible to the public.
13 WP3 – Analysis of the environment of innovation Responsible partner: UGENT Objectives: to develop a conceptual framework for analysis; to analyse the innovation environment in SEE countries by involving governance institutions; to facilitate the dialogue with and transfer of results and recommendations to policy makers; to provide input for development of strategies and tools for improvement.
14 WP4 – Development of strategies and tools for capacity development Responsible partner: CBHU Objectives: to develop and improve national innovation strategies for the food sector to include measures for strengthening the capacity of institutions and improve coordination of efforts; to develop common methodology for institutions for operating industry panels to enhance innovation; to elaborate training materials for train the trainers courses for the staff of the institutions, which can be used for better exploitation of available resources and capacities to foster innovation; to develop innovative ICT solutions/knowledge portals for better dissemination of best practices; to work out best practice guides; to develop final recommendations for local, national, regional and EU innovation enhancing organisations, policy makers, governments; to organise study tours for nonEU participants to learn successful practices and tools.
15 WP5 – Increasing public awareness Responsible partner: SEVT Objectives: to increase reputation of the food production as a profession and the public recognition of importance and benefits innovation in food sector; to develop a common communication strategy with agreed messages for a campaign to improve public awareness; to deliver a campaign in each country; to improve access to the public particularly to young people with innovative ICT based tools.
16 WP6 – Capacity building institutions Responsible partner: UMIL Objectives: to increase the capacity of the innovation promotion and supporting institutions of SEE through trainings following the train the trainers approach; to train key staff of project members (principal national trainers) on food chain management, using ICT solutions, knowledge transfer and organising training courses; to train staff of the national innovation supporting institutions on the above mentioned subject, who can provide assistance and support to a wide range of businesses along the food chains; to test and verify the methods of running industry panels by the institutions to generate innovation.
17 WP7 – Development and pilot testing of project management and innovation support services Responsible partner: TETALAP Objectives: to extend the capacities of institutions with collective project management and innovation support services; to develop a manual for this service and to pilot test it; to develop a training material for the institutions for this service; to organise study tours for those countries, where pilot testing was not carried out.
