William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was born in Stratford- upon-Avon, on April 23, Williams father was John Shakespeare, a leather merchant, his mother was Mary Arden, a landed local heiress. William, was the third of eight children. Shakespeare attended the free grammar school in Stratford. He was married to Anne Hathaway, when he was 18, on November 28, They had three children. Shakespeare arrived in London in 1588 and began to establish himself as an actor and playwright. His company was the most successful in London in his day. William Shakespeare - an English writer of plays, one of the most famous ever. Among the most famous of his plays are Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. William Shakespeare wrote a lot of poetry. He also wrote some very good poems, especially The Sonnets. William Shakespeare died in But his works are popular now and millions of people admire them.

Beatrix Potter Helen Beatrix Potter was born on 28 July in South Kensington, London, England. Her parents were Helen Leech and Rupert William Potter. Even as a young girl Beatrix loved animals enough to secret them away into the house including rabbits, frogs, kittens, hedgehogs and mice. The Potter family spent many summers in the Scottish Highlands and the Lake District of England where Beatrix and her brother Bertram immersed themselves in the natural world, which became a life-long passion and subject of intense study for Potter. She explored the varied geography and flora and fauna, recording her observations of the landscape, fossils, insects, fungi, birds, flowers and animals in sketches, drawings, and watercolours. On 15 October 1913 Potter married the country solicitor William Heelis. Potter continued to write books. Potter often submitted her stories to children first to 'test' them before publishing. Helen Beatrix Heelis died on 22 December Beatrix Potter – an English writer who wrote for young children and also drew the pictures for her books. Her books include The Tale of Peter Rabbit and The tailor of Gloucester and are still very popular with British children and their parents. Her books have been translated to braille and numerous languages including German, Latin, Welsh, Spanish, French, Japanese and Dutch. Many of them are beloved world-wide.

Robert Louis Stevenson Robert Louis Stevenson, Scottish essayist. Poet and author of fiction and travel books, known especially for his novels of adventures. Stevenson was born on November 13,1850 in Edinburgh as the son of Thomas Stevenson. In 1861 he entered Edinburgh University to study engineering, but changed to law. Instead of practicing law, Stevenson devoted himself to writing travel sketches, essays, and short stories for magazines. Stevenson became famous with he romantic adventure story Treasure Island. Among his other popular works are Kidnapped, The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde. Stevenson died on December 3, 1894.

Robert Burns Robert Burns was born on 25 January, 1759 in Alloway, Scotland. He was the son of a poor farmer William Burnes and his wife Agnes. At the age of six Robert went to school, because his father wanted him to be an educated boy. He was fond of reading. At the age of 15 he began to write poems. In 1784 his father died and Robert had to work on a small farm, but it brought him disappointment and misery. He had to sell the farm. Robert Burns wrote about kindness and honesty of common people. He is A Scottish poet who wrote hundreds of songs and poems, mainly on country life, love, and national pride. He died in poverty at the age of 37 in His poems are known and loved by people all over the world because Robert Burns glorified a human being.

Charles Dickens Charles Dickens was a famous English novelist. He was born on the 7 th of February,1812. He was born in a poor family. When Charles was ten years old his father was put in prison because of the debts, the boy had to work. When he was 25 years old he became one of the famous and best newspaper reporters in London. He wrote about the life of the city in his articles. His many famous books describe life in England and show how hard it was, especially for the poor and for children. They includeThe Pickwick Papers, Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities. He died suddenly. It was in summer in 1870.
