Little Brother Book Report by Adam Fendley -Short version
The Ws Little Brother follows a teenager named Marcus who lives in Los Angeles during current times. When LA is attacked by terrorists, all of the citizens rights are demolished. Right after the attack, the government kidnapped Marcus and a lot of other people, and tortured them for days until they are identified as non-terrorists. The government forces those who were kidnapped to promise not to speak of the experience. When Marcus returns home, he decides to do something. He creates the Xnet. The Xnet is a place where people can fight for their rights. They can also be invisible from the government, which is now monitoring Internet use. People use the Xnet to post videos, comments, and stories about happenings in LA so that the rest of the people in the United States can read them. Marcus goes to many social events planned by the Xnet group to protest to the government. Most of these protests result in everyone getting tear-gassed or beaten.
Opinon I loved this book! It talks about using technology in a very supportive and useful way, and gives a lot of cool ideas on different ways to protect yourself from the ongoing threats over the Internet. The book describes the life of a teenager really well, and the things that go through Marcus head are just like that of most people I know.
