Bobsledding - is a winter sport in which teams run down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sled. Various types of sleds appeared many years before the first tracks were built in St Moritz Switzerland. Originally bobsleds were designed to carry passengers.
Competitions naturally followed, and to protect the workers and rich visitors in the streets of St Moritz, the hotel owner Caspar Badrutt (the owner of the historic Krup Hotel and later Palace Hotel), built the first 'half-pipe' track in It has hosted the sport during two Olympic games and is still in use today.
History The International de Bobsledding Federative was founded in Four men bobsledding appeared in the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924, and two men bobsledding event was added in Bobsledding was not included into 1960 Winter Olympics, but has been in every Winter Olympics since. Women's bobsledding competition began in the early 1990s, and two women bobsledding made their Olympic debut at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Bobsledding is also contested at American, European, and World Cup championships.
Modern tracks are made of natural or artificial ice. They are required to have at least one straight and one labyrinth. Ideally, a modern track should be 1200 to 1300 metres long and have at least fifteen curves. The speed may run up to 130 km/h, and some curves can subject the crews to as much as 5 g. Tracks
Runs The run begins from a standing start, with the crew pushing the bobsledding down 50 metres before boarding. The runners of the sled follow the groove in the ice for this distance, and steering is unnecessary after. Races can be lost at the initial push but they are rarely won there. The sled speed depends on its weight, aerodynamics the condition of the ice, runners` and a driver`s skills.

Usually bobsled sportsmen train abroad. In the city the only track was built in I was made of made of wood and it wasnt modernized since. It`s too short for training and in our days it is used only for beginners.
