Not far from the lake there was an old monastery. We liked to play in its ruins. On the dark walls we saw the faces of the saints who seemed to look at us reproachfully.
There was a golden cross over the dark ruined roof of the bell-tower. It was shining with bright glitter in the blue sky. It was so exciting! My heart was full of happiness.
They said many placky fellows tried to take down the cross, but nobody could do it. The village people said if the cross over the church was safe the monastery would be restored. And they gathered near the monastery wall on the Easter and prayed to the God. They said many placky fellows tried to take down the cross, but nobody could do it. Hundreds of people from different corners of our country met the icon in the village of Ryazanovski and then accompanied it to the monastery 5km on foot. I took part in this Cross going too. And then I understand why all roads lead to the shrine. People are tied of the miserable life. They seek the ways to the right, honest life. Thats why they go to the church, to the God.
