Zoya studied well, particularly fond of history and literature at school, dreamed of going to the Literary Institute. Zoya was assigned to burn for 5-7 days 10 settlements, including the village Petrishcheva (Verey district) (now Ruza district of the Moscow region). Going out on a mission together, the two groups (10 people each) came under fire near the village of Golovkova (10 km from Petrishcheva) suffered heavy losses and partly dissipated; their remains were united under the command of Boris Kraynov.
