Wales Wales is a part of the United Kingdom. It is bordered by England to the east and by the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea to the west. Уэльс – часть Соединенного Королевства. Страна граничит с Англией на востоке и омывается Атлантическим океаном и Ирландским морем на западе.

Wales Wales is a country of hills and mountains, with deep rivers and valleys. Уэльс – страна холмов и гор c глубокими реками и долинами.

The largest cities The largest cities in the south of Wales are Cardiff, Swansea and Newport. The greatest concentration of people lives in these cities. Крупнейшие города на юге Уэльса Кардифф, Суонси и Ньюпорт. Наибольшая концентрация людей живет в этих городах.

Cardiff Cardiff is the capital of Wales. It is the main seaport and industrial centre. Cardiff has been the capital since Кардифф является столицей Уэльса. Это главный морской порт и промышленный центр. Кардифф является столицей с 1955 года.

The land of songs Wales is often called "the land of song". The Welsh people are fond of poetry, singing folk songs. There are a lot of choirs in Wales. Уэльс часто называют «страной песен». Жители Уэльса увлекаются поэзией и пением народных песен. В Уэльсе создано много хоров.

Eisteddfod Wales is famous for Eisteddfod. It is the largest and oldest festival of Welsh culture, which is held every year in different areas of Wales. Уэльс славится Eisteddfod. Это самый большой и самый старый фестиваль валлийский культуры, который проводится каждый год в разных районах Уэльса.

Wales Wales is famous for its production of coal and steel. Wales is an important centre for electronics production. Уэльс знаменит производством угля и стали. Уэльс является важным центром производства электроники.

Agriculture The main agricultural activities are sheep, cattle rearing, and dairy farming. Главная сельскохозяйственная деятельность – овцеводство, разведение крупного рогатого скота, производство молока.

St. David St. David is the Patron Saint of Wales. March 1st is St. David's Day. It is the national holiday of Wales and has been celebrated since the 12th century. Святой Давид является покровителем Уэльса. 1 марта - День Святого Давида. Это национальный праздник Уэльса, который отмечается с 12 века.

National symbols Wales has two national symbols the daffodil and the leek. Уэльс имеет два национальных символа - нарцисс и лук-порей.

Flag of Wales Flag of Wales is a red dragon on white and green background. На государственном флаге Уэльса изображен красный дракон на зеленом и белом фоне.

Rugby The most popular sport in Wales is rugby. Самый популярный вид спорта в Уэльсе – регби.

National Parks There are three beautiful National Parks and four protected areas in Wales. В Уэльсе есть три прекрасных парка и четыре заповедных зоны.

Wales Wales is very interesting country. It attracts many tourists from all over the world. Уэльс очень интересная страна. Она привлекает много туристов со всего мира.
